ABOUT THE SHOW

As you know, some cooking shows travel the world to find the exotic. But Canada, especially Ottawa, is home to many ethnicities and embraces them. Its culture has been formed by an exciting mixture of different experiences from all over the world. And, food is the perfect way to demonstrate and celebrate this.

Our show is warm, kind, light-hearted, and fun. And, we are looking for a Grandma to join us for each of our six episodes.

In this show, a Grandma who loves food and is an excellent cook herself, will present our chef with an envelope. Inside will be the recipe he must cook. He has a limited budget for the food and, under her guidance back in his restaurant’s kitchen, he must cook the food - to the satisfaction of Nonna.

Creator and co-producer Katia Sinchenko is a producer from Ukraine, now relocated to Ottawa, with experience on some of the top reality shows in Ukraine and Russia. She even worked with Ukraine’s president Volodomir Zelensky on one of the shows.

Co-producer Heidi Lasi is excited to be working on a cooking show - something she’s wanted to do since watching the Galloping Gourmet on reruns when she was a kid. She loves food, the fun, light-hearted nature of Grandma vs. Chef, and working with talented folks here in Ottawa.
